MIMLS Member Thangamalar Ramakrishna Attended IFBLS TMER Overseas Trainee Project in Japan

MIMLS Member, Ms Thangamalar Ramakrishna was invited to the IFBLS Tsukuba Medical Laboratory of Education and Research (TMER) Overseas Trainee Project 2018 held from 3 to 11 November 2018 at Tsukuba, Japan. The project was held under the co-sponsorship of International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS), University of Tsukuba Hospital and Japan Association of Medial Technologists (JAMT). The support includes practical training, air fare, accommodation and living expenses.
Ms Thangamalar, who is a senior MLT at the Histopathology Unit of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, was the only international medical technologist selected among all applicants recommended by their respective national associations who are members of the IFBLS. There were altogether 25 applications received this year and all applicants' credibility and eligibility were judged by IFBLS Council Members and TMER Board Members.
During her 9-day stay in Japan, Ms Thangamalar received lectures and practical training in Genetic Testing at the University of Tsukuba Hospital, which includes Next Generation Sequencing, Microbiology, Haematology and Histopathology.
